Dear Mr. Tomasz Stanko,
Welcome to Japan.
I love your music.
There are also many people who love your music.
We are looking forward to listening your quartet in front of us.
Maybe we’ll be able to find new and amazing things in your play.
I don’t know the object of this visit in detail.
But, I hope many people (especially dealing with music business) touch your spirit during the visit.
May we enjoy your live concert in Japan!
Shibu-cha (It’s a posting name in Web. It means “bitter tea”.)
I have a diary in Weblog, and sometimes write the impression of CDs.
I’ve write about “Suspended night” in this spring.
Unfortunately this is written in Japanese.
I’ll try to translate in English. (It’s very tough work for me.)
“Suspended night” --- indecisive, but so cool!
There are many important things in jazz playing.
Do you think indecisiveness is important?
Many players may exclude it, and they try to play with clear thinking.
Unfortunately, rarely we are irritated with indecisive way.
How about Mr.Stanko?
I love his music and play very much.
There are some keywords which explain his music.
Melancholy, darkness, quiet……
But, I think the indecisiveness is also important element in his music.
Please don’t misunderstand.
He plays very clearly. He chooses the notes, sound and articulation perfectly.
Although from other view point,
I feel he tries and repeats to explain his heart with different expression in the same tune.
Then he makes cloudy and humid air. But it’s attractive for me.
It seems as if he may talk to me,
“There are many unreasonable things in your life.
It’s very tough to choose good or right way. You need to repete trial and error.
Do not worry.”
I surely live with the way same as the words.
His music may be the mirror which reflects my heart.
In the new album “Suspended night”, you may find new charm.
There is fresh and young air.
You find he smiles sweetly with his band in inner jacket of the album.
In this album, I often feel his deep tenderness.
I hadn't noticed that side of his character before.
(There may be same spirit in previous CDs. But, I can not find it.)
May I enjoy same air in next album!
